Regional activities

Introduction

home_01.jpgThe hamlet Bonnefond (Sembadel) is situated in the Haute-Loire nearby the convent borough "La Chaise-Dieu" and close to the department Puy-de-Drôme. It's a region where nature is breathing; one of the greatest witnesses is the regional park Livradois-Forez. The region offers a lot of tourist activities which are more than worth a visit. It's rich to medieval vestiges, which are well done renovated at some places. In Medieval times, Romanesque art was growing and the lava tops were exploited by several chatelaines who built their citadels on it.

The website of "L'Horizon Vert" goes further than just a "Chambres d'hôtes". We offer you a beautiful overview of all tourist to-do-things in the neighbourhood. All information is based on own experience and tourism offices. We invite you to take a look at all activities proposed on our website.

The Gorges

allier_001.jpgBonnefond is included by two powerful Gorges: the Gorge of the Loire and the Allier Gorge. The Gorge of the Loire is less attractive for the average tourist, but for those who are looking for rest and peace more than worth it. The Gorge of the Loire accommodates numerous picturesque villages which are located on the banks or a little bit further from the Loire on volcano remains. In high season the Gorge of Allier is a great sportive highlight where you can do rafting, kayak, mountain bike, survival and so on.

Promenading

randonnee_001.jpgWalking is the advised activity in the region. There are a lot of indicated day excursions which are called the PR-walking (Petites Randonnées) and pointed by their typical yellow stripes. For more than one day excursions or hiking trips, you can obtain for the GR-walking (Grandes Randonnées) with a red/white indication. Our website only contains a few PR-walking, but more information can be found at the local tourism offices. The GR excursions in the regions are GR4, GR30, GR40 and GR400.

  • The GR4 counts 250km and explores the high plateaus of the Auvergne. This GR goes from north to south through the regional nature park of Volcans d'Auvergne.
  • The GR30 counts 183km and leads you to the lakes of the Auvergne.
  • The GR40 counts 160km and goes around the capital city Le Puy-en-Velay.
  • The GR400 is crossing the Massif of Cantal and is good for 130km.

There are also a few "GR de pays". Those are more than one day excursions but shorter than the traditional GR-walking. They are marked with red/yellow stripes. There is one nearby Ambert in the regional park of Livradois-Forez.
